love comes in a thermos

today is one of those days where my daughter won't walk through our doors until almost 9p. after school she has her training, then going to her brother's soccer game, then she gets zipped off to practice. I just hate giving her a light snack on these days, when i know she hasn't eaten since lunch and could use something a little more substantial. These are the days that I am incredibly thankful for the invention of the thermos.

I bought a small thermos from Target and it has honestly been one of my smartest investments! My kids use them almost every day for lunch, and on a day like today, we will be using it for dinner too.

Often times i simply put ramen noodles into the thermos (she LOVES ramen). I've also recently picked up some progresso soups from harris teeter (on sale this week - buy 2 get 3 FREE!!!!) My son prefers the soups. here's the how to:

1. heat water in a teapot.
2. pour hot water into thermos.
3. leave water in thermos for 5-10 minutes (it's heating up the "core")
4. dump out hot water,
5. add ramen noodles & spice from package. (noodles are hard not cooked)
6. add more hot water from teapot - about 2/3 full.
7. seal

by the time lunch comes around (or in the case, her brother's game) the noodles have been cooked by the boiling water and the ramen is perfect!!!

for progresso soups or other foods, i repeat steps 1-4 then just add whatever other food i am serving.

this also works wonders if you like chicken and rice - i just use minute rice, and instead of adding water, i will use some chicken broth. SUPER YUMMY.

and now you can feed your kid something warm on the go!
